USO
Welcome Center Subdirectory
With
Jacksonville being a military town and our country at war,
there are many young folks traveling through our airport
to a destination that certainly is not going to be kind
to them. USO maintains a small welcome-room under the stairs
with a couch, a few treats and some loving volunteers with
kind words. Given the increased travel volume, the Jacksonville
Aviation Authority has donated to the USO a large front
row space fitting the dignity our military deserves. The
USO asked Northeast Florida Builders Association and Builders
Care, to at no charge, perform the required build out and
furnish it with many of the touches of home.
The facility will seat 24, have a 42-inch big screen TV,
X-Box games, computers with email ability, refrigerator,
microwave, and have comfortable rest areas.
We
are currently looking for trade partners, and corporate
and individual donations to make it happen! Some of these
kids will not be coming home; the least we can do is give
them a comfortable place to rest with the last touch of
home. Please send your monetary contribution to Builders
Care or contact Bill Wilson to plug in your inkind donations.
Watch
this space for photos and updates as the project progresses!
