First
Coast Invitational
Show Jumping and Bull Riding
Two Very Different
Sports
Come Together for a Great Cause
Two
very different sports came to the First Coast. The Grand
Prix Show Jumping event and the Professional Bull Riding
event brought many spectators out. A percentage of the proceeds
were donated to Builders Care.
There
were 54 horse jumpers that participated for the $30,000
cash prize. The Grand Prix level competitions include the
Olympics, the World Equestrian Games, the World Cup Series
and the Nations Cup Series. The horse that has the fastest
time and the least amount of mistakes wins the competition.
Check out the great pictures from the Grand Prix Show Jumping
event.
A few
hours later, spectators lined up outside the Jacksonville
Equestrian Center to watch the world's most dangerous sport.
To be a bull rider, the person must be brave enough to ride
these animals because you never know what can happen. The
rule is whoever can ride the bull for the longest wins.
The estimated time to ride is eight seconds.
Builders
Care sponsored 18-year-old Bronc Platt from Ocala, Fl. Platt's
father was a bull rider and that's why he wanted to compete.
Platt is also a five time Bull Riding Junior Champion from
2000-2004 for Florida and Georgia.
Platt
told Builders Care that you have to train hard to be a professional
bull rider and it's like a full time job.
"I
started riding sheep when I was three. When I turned 13,
I started bucking bulls," Platt said. Platt
did not win this competition, but we know he will be on
P.B.R one day. To stay on a bull requires skill and Platt
has that. Great job Platt!
